If your ears are open, you know that last week we unceremoniously welcomed Nelson Rodriguez (http://achievementjunkie.com/about/) to the Gamerscore team. He's already been hard at work helping us out as we continue to keep the gerbil wheel of community spinning.

You might know Nelson from his work at Planet Xbox 360 (http://www.planetxbox360.com/), and more recently as co-creator of the wildly popular, hugely successful, beautifully produced mega-site Achievement Junkie (http://achievementjunkie.com). If you haven't subscribed yet, you should. All of us here are big fans of Nelson and Natalie (http://achievementjunkie.com/about/), and while we don't want to do anything that will cause them to slow down with their almost daily podcast (http://achievementjunkie.com/category/podcast-episodes/) (and videos), we were impressed with their love of video games, their dedication to the community, and the quality of their work.
I hope adding Nelson to our team doesn't lessen the credibility he has within the community, now that he's a paid corporate shill. Hopefully it will only add to the level of information he can provide (or at least give him a unique angle on things). Believe me, we were really torn between pulling him from the community to help us here, and leaving him to build Achievement Junkie. In the end, I hope his contribution will only be greater, and will help him in his personal/career goals.
I should mention that some of you who work with your own online community might also have noticed another new person helping us out with the Gamerscore News (gsnews@microsoft.com) emails we send out to site owners/contributors. Tom Eberspecher will be around for a few months helping out, and we really appreciate him getting us through the busy weeks ahead.
Some of you have asked about what our team does, who we work with, what our goals are, and why we're such bright, happy-go-lucky guys/gal. All I can say is that it's not the fresh air in Redmond, Washington (since we all come from places far and near), or our dedication to all things Microsoft (both Sara and Nelson prefer working on their Macs...). The entire team has the single goal of helping build the video games community by providing site owners/contributors with information and support. I'll work on another post explaining a bit more at some point.
