I think it would be cool to have a game arcade on the site for the community. That may be a good thing to keep frequent users on the forums entertained.

I'm not sure. Isn't that effect quite short term?

I don't know if it would be short term or not? It could be I don't know? Just had a random thought and threw it out there. I guess it depends on what the each person likes. However would people use it if it were there? Would they like it or would they play a game and never play it again? Or would they play the games frequently? I don't know? However it would not be something that would draw people in. So I guess yeah it would be short term.

If you put in the competition element a bit it might help.
Feel free to run a poll to see if that's something what the users want.

Roadkill, why is it always about playing? J/K The other site I belong to has arcade games in the forum. If you have high score in one, it shows under your name, with a 'Why don't you challenge 'so in so' in arcade.' I can see stonys point, I don't really play anymore, I did at first, but lost interest, probably because of game selection. (I really like Yeti Sports) The good thing about it is, it keeps people on the boards longer, and creates friendly competition.

In my personal opinion, I say no arcade, at least for now. My experience with arcade add-ons is that they are usually flawed in design which generally means more work for the admins. Yes, it is nice to be entertained and I do agree that it does bring some people here more frequently at first, but once scores get high and the competition wanes, people stop playing and then start requesting new games. I have quelled my users at my site by not offering them this time, I may add just a few classics, like asteroids or something, but that's it. Trying to focus on the site's primary objectives, like providing a community bulletin board with added information that usually can't be found elsewhere. I suggest to my users to try some of the online sites that do offer flash games if they want to play. :) I'm interested to see the poll on this. :)

Good insight Chop! More work for Stony away from the main objectives he has would be counter productive. I am game whatever way he decides to go. The poll should be interesting.

Most definitely. There is always the possibility of having one of the other admin/mods take over arcade details. My experience is just that some of the games don't properly show high scores, can't remember how many PM's I got on that, lol. Yeti sports is one of my favs too. :)

Well, the inevitable has happened at my site too, lol. People are requesting games. I think I may go for the Joomla pack that uses of site games but appears to launch them locally. Benefit there being is the little bandwith that we do have doesn't get sucked up. :) So it looks like I'll be adding them to my site, lol.
