Before Thanksgiving 2007 is nothing more than a tryptophan-induced hazy memory, I wanted to take a minute to offer up my thanks for everything that's made this year so amazing for all of us here on the Gamerscore team, and at Microsoft.
Thanks to every member of the Games Community, without the passion and dedication that you all bring, not only would many of us not have jobs, and if we did, they wouldn't be as much fun.
I'm especially grateful to work with the team I do, some of the most creative, hard-working, smart, and funny people in any industry. Thank you Tony for your dedication and leadership, your great ideas, and for being a good friend. Thanks Chris for being so flexible, reliable, for stepping in so often, and for making the team a lot more fun. Thanks, Sara, for your dedication, your patience, your great ideas, and for being our "field correspondent" so many times. I can't wait to have you here in Redmond. Thanks, Nelson, for dropping everything to join our motley bunch, for adding your energy, your experience, and your intelligence. (And thanks to listeners of Achievement Junky for letting us have him.) And thanks Tom for stepping in, for helping out so willingly and so well, and for making all of us look a bit more professional than we probably deserve.
I'm really grateful to be part of such a dedicated, professional group at Microsoft. Thanks Wolf for being so willing to be associated with our group, and for keeping us in the loop. And thanks Aaron, Stone, Erica, Jen, and Rob for being contributors to the community in so many ways. Thanks to Larry and Trixie and Craig and Eric, for all they do for us from the product group. I'm thankful that I have such a talented, experienced, and personable boss who "gets it," a smart management team, and leaders that have a vision that values the games community. I'm thankful to be able to learn from people like Peter, Jeff, Robbie, and Charlotte. I'd list all of you by name, but there's probably some HR rule against doing that...
I'm thankful to those of you that put so much work into making the games community a thriving, interesting, exciting place to work. We all really appreciate all the work that goes into the maintaining your sites, your blogs, your forums, and everything else you do for your community. I hope everyone appreciates all the work you do, but I have a hunch that while we all enjoy the fruits of your labors, I bet they don't know how much work it really is. I hope we don't take it too much for granted. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
Thanks for blogging, Twittering, IM'ing, forum posting, commenting, YouTubing, moderating, supporting, mentoring, pwning, and for just subscribing to our podcast and browsing our blog. Thanks for adding us to your Friends list. Thanks for being easy on us when we take ourselves too seriously. Thanks to each of you that left family and friends to attend a community day, or an event we've held, or just work late into the night to post content or tweak a database. Special personal thanks to Chris, James, Brian, Brian, Ron, Godfree, JVB, KRock, WiseGuy, Knuckles, Kitty, Arne, PinkSage, Feelz, NIN, AvidX, aceattorney, Coola, WitchKing, ThrillsKilla, Rabid, Fatty, Deacon, Jaken, Masta, RainMaker, and even Steve519, quezcotl, and Shamrock (for keeping us on our toes). And thanks to those I should list, but didn't. No offense, just bad memory... :)
Finally, thanks to my family who puts up with so much travel, time away from home, and the occasional Xbox 360 binge. You're the best support system, focus group, and clan I could ever hope for. Most of all, you're my reason for living, and for working at all. Now, when's the turkey done?
Happy Thanksgiving!
