Clinton Would Crack Down on Computer-Generated Cartoon Sex

Hillary Clinton is still outraged that Rockstar Games left a sexually-themed mini game nestled in its best-selling Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in 2005.

Clinton_3 You'll recall the kerfuffle when the deactivated love scene was found buried in the code for the otherwise wholesome car jacking, cop-killing shooter. The unfinished mini-game featured clothed characters simulating sex acts. To access the scene, randy teens had to download and install a special patch developed by a Dutch coder, expending more effort than it takes to find real, human adult content on the web.

That all led some cynics to suspect Clinton of grandstanding when she called a press conference to denounce Rockstar and demand a Federal Trade Commission investigation into San Andreas. The ESRB re-rated the game to AO for "adults only," raising the minimum age of purchase from 17 to 18 years old -- a crucial year in which a teen develops the necessary psychological defenses to resist the Siren song of polygon porn.

But in a response to a questionnaire from the watchdog group Common Sense Media, Clinton reveals today that she still sees the affair as a victory for child safety. She describe her introduction of the doomed Family Entertainment Protection Act as a response to the "illicit" sexual content in San Andreas, and says, as president, she'd support regulation of the gaming industry.

"When I am President, I will work to protect children from inappropriate video game content," she told CSM.

That puts her on the same page as Republican candidate Mitt Romney, who told CSM that the U.S. needs to "get serious against those retailers that sell adult video games that are filled with violence and that we go after those retailers." Clinton's fellow Democrats John Edwards, Barack Obama and Bill Richardson said they'd rather give the industry a chance to self-regulate, at least initially.

Clinton's Family Entertainment Protection Act would have made it a federal offense to sell adult-rated video games to minors. It never passed, but similar state laws have been struck down as unconstitutional. Clinton's co-sponsor on the bill, Joseph Lieberman, had his own video game nemesis: Stubbs the Zombie, who, like too many politicians, needs braaiiiins.

Another thing added to the list of reasons of why not to vote for Hilary Clinton. I think the industry already has the regualtion it needs, and should not be fooled with. If the movie industry has not been fooled with, then why the game industry?

Cause the game industry is new...politicians like to play into the fears of the voters its not like there heart is really in this they just know a lot of parrents are still thinking videogames create antisocial massmurderers.

Rule number 1 of politics...know your voters often narrowminded views on subjects like this then exploit that view in a way so it serves your purpose.
The gameindustry isn't small anymore allmost everyone has acces to videogames these days wich makes it a huge target.

You see this when some psycho with a gun decides to go on a killing spree and by some coincidence has a few games at home you know what gets mentioned in the media?

"The murderer had in his possesions multiple known violent videogames including blablabla you know."

Thats how the media influences parrents that allready have fears of videogames turning their kids into murderers thats where the politicians come in they know this.

Thats pretty much my view on politics let me know if you disagree.

It's to hide the real reason behind the school shootings, the schools. Schools don't stop the bullying when they should and that is when this all happens.

It's to hide the real reason behind the school shootings, the schools. Schools don't stop the bullying when they should and that is when this all happens.

Its not just that you dont just become a guy willing to randomly kill just because your bullied its mostly a number of different factors.

I dont believe if i got bullied every day i would be in a position to murder anyone, sure i got into a lot of fights and stuff like that years ago but im still not a guy that can take someones life on purpose.

People that do this at some point lose all compassion for other human beings now that doesn't just happen cause you get picked on.

Its an atitude a choice you make, you can go trough every possible form of torture as a kid having a crappy life no friends and stuff like that and still grow up to be a nice guy not capable of intentionally killing anyone.

But to get back ontopic i mean i kind of let it stray with my first post but im just saying sex is a natural thing it shouldn't be weird if it enters the medium gaming and gets accepted.

Thats cause the audience games are aimed for grew up,the industry has grown up just like movies, books and music it should not be seen as weird its a natural way the mediums gew up.

Just make those games adult only and it should be fine....its pretty easy being a hypocrite when your country has the biggest pr0n industry in the world and lets not forget highest percentage of teen pregnancies...

Yet nudity on live tv gets frowned upon....thinks of the Janet Jackson incident...i mean big deal so parrents had to explain what their kids saw uhoh you mean they actually had to talk to their kids?

OMG what has the world come to when you actually have to explain something to your kids instead of them learning that stuff on the streets..

Think i made my point huh...BTW this is not directly aimed at any XLN parrent on this forum....i tought this could use a disclaimer cause i have been very critical in this post and dont actually wanna offend anyone...;)

OH of course there are other factors to school shootings, but schools are never blamed for the way the kid is, and they never even check for that. If you take the My Chemical Romance song "Teenagers", they pretty much explain why some kids do shootings, that song was inspired by the Columbine shootings. There are other factors though like way they were treated by parents, or they just have mental problems right off the bat, but I think the Vtech shooter was bullied a lot just by the tapes of him speaking he says all that. Though my school I went to was very strong against it, it didn't be come illegal here to bully until I was in 6th grade, in 5th grade I got treated horrible, mostly just verbal things that were said to me, and tricks being pulled on me. Those kids all grew up and stopped all that in 6th grade and were all nice guys. I was just a kid from a small town that moved into a town with completely different views on things. Though I learned to deal with it all, though younger kids can be really cruel if you are different to them or new.

Why did we go from Clinton to school shootings? I think I can personally say that there were times I wanted to just strangle everyone in my school back in high school, but I didn't. I had self-control. I also knew that life isn't a video game. I still know it. Video games for me are therapy. I play video games to let off steam, not rile me back up into a rage.

Kids are cruel, no matter where you go. Some will never grow up, and for those who are still in junior high or high school, just remember that. You may get picked on for being a geek or something, but think that one day you may be a big time corporate guy and they'll all be janitors. I am now in college, and I've seen a major difference. Kids/adults are there because they want to be, not because they have to be. I think that has a lot to do with it. The will and option to do things.

Because someone pointed out how video games were being blamed for school shootings, like Vtech they tried saying just cause he played counter strike in high school, that that was the reason why he did what he did. They just need to find something to hide the real reason behind something and find a way to squeeze money out of something. Like the whole GTA cop shooting, walmart got sued because they sold the kid a ps2 and gta, then like a year later he shoots a cop. You can't blame games solely on these things, there has to be some other factor thrown into the mix for something to happen. I did a research paper on this, and I found that on some studies when the brain was being watched right after someone played a video game that there was emotional arousal, but they don't know what that emotion was. So I think the law and news need to lay off games, and stare closer to a situation and find the real reason why someone did something.
