All,
After some major programming hours I'm proud to announce that we now feature silverlight based Gamercards.
Silverlight is a flash-like technology from microsoft.
The xln cards are rendered using our own API webservices and the dynamic data is generated by a php engine.
The overall architecture is quite complex but it works.
The cards can be seen in our forums.
This is in beta so please report any errors.
UPDATE 1:
a sample Silverlight card can be seen on http://www.xboxlivenation.com/community/xlncard.php?gt=stonyarc
due to conflicts on internet explorer while loading multiple instances this is temporary disabled
UPDATE 2:
a sample XLN Engine card can be seen on http://www.xboxlivenation.com/gamercard/xlncard.php?gt=stonyarc
As silverlight wasn't stable enough on IE7 (for example having the skype plugin active would crash IE) I decided to write my own engine with the same look.
This engine still uses our own API service to limit the access to the database.
The result can be seen in the forum.
Please report any issues. the card are no purely php driven and are not even graphically rendered as our custom cards are.
Cheers

defaults back to original on firefox 3, just to let you know.
I disabled it because of too many issues for people with internet explorer.
silverlight is a nice technology for a single call but when trying to call multiple instances even with iframes it becomes quite sensitive.
Firefox does handle it correctly but Internet Explorer 7 just completely fails with even a "stopped working correctly".
The cause can be traced to the way IE handles server responses and invokes the multiple *.js calls from within a single page with iframes.
The apache server error logs throws a "client denied by server configuration" because of the multiple reads for IP's with Internet Explorer. I could force a way through by disabling certain modules (like the dos prevention module) and some .htaccess voodoo but I'll use the script somewhere else on the site where there are less calls made by the application.
Basically at this stage till I can sort out some of the issues it's not the best way to go for me but it's still a nice proof of concept.

Thats too bad, I really like the new gamer cards. I was cool that I could see where you were within a game. I had no problems using it.

so how do you use this with a BBcode ?
stonyarc
12-26-2007, 11:07 AM
I will adopt the live dna page so it reflects the special card too. For use with bbcode the administrator may have to add a bbcode

The only thing i notice is when someone is playing a game, the first game tile doesn't match what is being played.

That's because these are update on a different timescale.
The actual online presence is update every half hour, the game history twice a day

I made some changes so that the data detected for the online gamers is directly used now to update the live dna and the played history of a gamer.

the new card and the new actualisation process is now integrated in the Live DNA too.
You will now notice that both the cards and the lastplayed information are becoming very acurate with about a maximum delay of about 30 min (if you remain online on the game during the check of course).
It's logical that you at least play a game for 30 min or more so that's the assumption the actualisation process uses.
This process is only applicable for the full games and not demo's and dashboard stuff.
