Imagine if you we're an xbox 360 owner and love to watch movies and you bought the HDVD addon for 200 euro's

If microsoft brings the addon out i think those that bought the hddvd addon should at least get a very reasonable discount.

Im just saying....if the addon is gonna be like 200 euro's again then you would have paid 800 euro's for your 360 and 400 of that would be just to watch HD movies....

Ofcourse i saw that coming.....but hey not everyone did.:p

Samsung makes a player that plays both. I think that's what Microsoft should be looking into. HD-DVD is still a better format.

seems indeed the next logical step but I would certainly prefer it to be an attachment

I won't really be paying much attention to this since I don't watch movies on my 360...

player has been canceled and pulled, there were many reviews of it, but now they are not going to release it.

suppose it could be good aslong as it doesnt put a deep hole in my wallet, which it most likely will :(

I most likely won't purchase any add on for movies. It just doesn't make sense to me right now. DVD is still good enough quality for me to watch movies on.

There were several reasons to make the move from VHS to DVD.
1. DVDs take up less room than VHS tapes.
2. Each time you watched a VHS tape the picture degraded.
3. It was included in the consoles I was buying.

I'm not going to move to a hi def format until:
a) They start showing up at Walmart for 30 bucks.
b) I get one as part of my gaming system.

Until that point I'm gonna keep my money in my pocket. I'm not losing anything from the story by watching a movie on DVD as compared to Blu-Ray. The cost of renting or buying a movie on Blu-Ray is more than that of DVD. The only reason that these things are selling so quickly is that people are falling for hype.
Keep your money until it's a sure thing.

You're right leathersoup,

Till everything becomes streamed / downloadable if you are satisfied with normal res the addon won't bring that much new value.

At least till they drop the price level of the disks to the same level as the current dvd

It only makes since that they make a add-on..although I wouldn't be too suprised if the "next xbox" has blu-ray as it's next format..unless they do end up using the HDDVD just for the games..

There's going to do it... then "we're not in talks at this time." Then I hear it's on again. Call me a skeptic, but I'll believe it when I see it. I would like to see it... That way I could use my Netflix for Bluray and make the most of my HDTV...

saw this coming along time now, i mean... M$ would soon realise that the bluray drive would be a great addon for the 360 since the HD-DVD didn't work so good. i'll probably buy this, but i'll wait until the prices get smaller :P... keep [ ]

I was already burned by being an early adopter of the HDDVD drive. Before I HDDVD tanked, I came to realize that Microsoft was pretty much in the game to debase blu-ray, and eventually push its movie download service. So its understandable that I'm a bit reluctant to put my money into another Xbox 360 add-on. So, I figure if I'm going to be getting a blu-ray player in the future, it might as well be a PS3.

think of the millions who have no idea how to download, or even have an ISP...even a service as easy as MS can be difficult for some. So for now people still want a product they can hold and see...as for the blu-ray add on, this story puts it to rest that the 360 will have no blu-ray add on click click (http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=182288)

still not excited about Blu-Ray, would not buy the player if it came out for the Xbox.

And to comment on Masterninja's post, i would feel pritty ****ed.
but then i again i would not have bought it cause there was no true winner yet.
(haastige spoed is zelden goed ;) )
But any way, HD-DVD is exit blu-ray won but why want t obuy a blu-ray palyer at the moment.

Man can you all remember how expensive those DVD players where ?
Now you can buy them for only 30 $ or €
so best is to wait and see what happends!

i think making a bluray add on or even a a new sku with bluray in it is completely stupid at this point of the 360's life. the hardware isnt completely reliable and think about how much money they could potentially lose if the consoles with bluray in it start failing. not to mention there probably gonna be coming out with an entire new system in a couple years...they mite as well add it in there just to make the games able to hold more.
