To bad we have to wait for a year though. At least it looks like we have lots of good games to play until then.
According to the same magazine that showed the world the first Halo 3 footage and the confirmation of VF5 for 360
"At the end of 2007, one of the biggest titles to be released for any of the current generation consoles is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. As the follow up to the blockbuster smash hit PS2 title Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, it will probably sell extremely well and be played by many PS3 fans. However, sole owners of Wii and Xbox 360 would have to do without it. Fortunately, Konami isnīt completely blind to the fact that more gamers deserve to play this epic title, and it is now confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the Xbox 360 will launch a year later in November 2008. It will come with new content additions including VR missions and other bonus gameplay like Snake Tales, which lets you go on more objective-based missions -- some quite lengthy. So, there's no question that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the Xbox 360 comes packed with more content than the original PS3-version.
Seemingly, the Xbox 360 Metal Gear would have been the one to wait for, but Konami respond by releasing the slightly beefed up Metal Gear Solid 4 for PS3 as well."

I allready expect to wait longer over here in holland for the PS3 version.
No i will skip waiting and buy it first chance i get.
This basicly rules out me buying a PS3..and it will be better than the ps3 version:),this is fantastic news should be frontpage of the site...ohh man i cant wait, and now kojima will get to play with rumble like he wanted!!

Sony just got smacked.... another exclusive out the window.
Now lets just hear that FFXIII is coming... and there sunk...
But seriously.... why would anyone buy a PS3 now? To get it first, and has the PS3 version have a release date anyways?

New MGS 4 coming to the 360 rumor is bologna

http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/05/mgs4balooon.jpg (http://forums.xbox.com/12756627/ShowPost.aspx)In the past few days rumors have been a flutter over a Swedish gaming magazine confirming that Metal Gear Solid 4 would be making its way to the Xbox 360 in 2008. The source, a supposedly translated piece from the magazine's article posted on the Xbox.com (http://forums.xbox.com/12756627/ShowPost.aspx) forums. Well, from what we can tell, this rumor is made up crud that some fanboy whipped together to stir the rumor pot. But why do we cry falsity?
Well, on the same forum, member indianhustler brought to everyone's attention the wording of this supposed magazine article by linking to a 2003 IGN article (http://insider.ign.com/teasers/388/388211.html) that talks about MGS 2. That 2003 article's verbiage is nearly identical to the supposed new MGS 4 rumor from Swedish Super Play magazine, except for a few words switched out. Take a look for yourself as we've posted both the "translated text" from the new rumor and the old 2003 MGS 2 IGN article below. See any similarities? Yeah, this MGS 4 confirmation is nothing more than a copy and paste job from an old IGN article done by a bored fanboy. That's why this is made up bologna ... for now.
Supposed MGS 4 confirmation from Super Play magazine
"At the end of 2007, one of the biggest titles to be released for any of the current generation consoles is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. As the follow up to the blockbuster smash hit PS2 title Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, it will problably sell extremely well and be played by many PS3 fans. However, sole owners of Wii and Xbox 360 would have to do without it. Text from MGS 2 IGN article that ran in 2003
"At the end of 2001, one of the biggest titles to be released for any of the current generation consoles was Metal Gear Solid 2. As the follow up to the blockbuster smash hit PSX title Metal Gear Solid, it went on to sell extremely well and be played by many PS2 fans. However, sole owners of GameCube and Xbox would have to do without it. Fortunately, Konami wasn't completely blind to the fact that more gamers deserved to play the epic title, and it released Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for the Xbox a year later in November 2002. This came with new content additions including VR missions and other bonus gameplay like Snake Tales, which lets you go on more objective-based missions -- some quite lengthy. So, there's no question that Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance comes packed with more content than the original MGS2 on PS2.
Seemingly, the Xbox Metal Gear would have been the one to buy, but Konami responded quickly by releasing the slightly beefed up Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for PS2 this March."
IMHO there are still plenty of great reasons to buy a PS3.

Multiplatform games are going both ways. Like SoccerHooligan says, until we hear it from the developer it's a rumor and in this case it's 100% fake.
If Sony fanboys posted false information that Halo 3 was coming to the PS3, you guys would be all over it. It's the same thing here. Time to flush this fake story.

I think all developers that are not owned by the company will launch every game on as many systems as they can. They'd be fools not to. Every game that has been 'Rumored" to come out on the rival system ends up doing so.
While I would love to see Konami put it on their website I believe it meets all the Japanese criteria.
1) It is released for 6 mos to a year in Japan and on the Sony system then it gets released on 360.
2) They make $50,000,000 to $100,000,000 by doing it.
For these reasons I tend to believe it.

The game may very well at some point release on the 360. Right now there is no confirmation of that. Just a dumb fanboy cutting and pasting. This isn't a rumor, it's a lie. There is a difference.

Ok! But I still say it will come. And to be honest if Halo 3 was not owned by Microsoft and someone said it was going to be on PS3 also I would say DUH! They can make millions selling it.
Its not like Konami doesn't make games for the 360. Having 10 million customers available or 25 million add wii and it goes to 35 million or more by 08 why wouldn't they? At $60 a copy there could hundreds of millions of dollars for THEIR intellectual property. Lets get something straight IMHO they owe their stockholders their best effort to get them the MAXIMUM return on their investment. If that means selling a potential $500 million game to Sonys rivals then so be it. If I was a major stockholder in that company and I knew I could double the propit margin on a product I wouldn't let any sense of brand loyalty cloud my ability to make profit. I would demand they release it on all systems and PC to. This is business not a popularity contest.
If Sony wants to guarentee that they won't have these issues they can do what Microsoft did and buy the company. So the Halo 3 line don't hold water.
If Sony wasn't such an Elitist entity they would want it on both and would integrate the live experience with there own and you would have multiplayer, mutliplatform games. Then you would be innovative and maximise your potental for the game.
And to top it all off I own a PS 3 so I really don't care which system it comes out on I'm gonna play it anyway.

I agree with Prophet in that if Halo 3 was say by Epic, then sure... release it to as many people as possible, but since its owned by Microsoft, that would be a no. I wouldnt have a problem if they released it on PS3 anyways. Doesnt bother me. Im the firm believer that there shouldnt be exclusives just so you dont have to buy so many consoles.

MGS4 Confirmed For Xbox360?
If this Destructoid article is to be believed, then MGS4 is coming to the Xbox360, and it has been in the works for a while. The article reads as complete gibberish, but if you read between the lines (a lot), you can decipher that the game will be coming to the 360 in 2008. Rumor mill for now, and for a while most likely.
http://gamersreports.com/news/5750/mgs4-confirmed-for-xbox360/
More has come out to confirm this. The article has been censored since a letter was sent to Destructoid and Microsoft or Konami has never gone this far the squash this rumor which means this most of been the real deal and we are getting MGS4.

What makes you think that MS would want to integrate Live with PSN? The way you only target Sony in your statement, you make it sound like MS approached Sony and they said no,
Microsoft was founded in a garage by hackers. They exist to stay on the cutting edge of innovation and provide the services required to make that happen. Their success is debateable but the vision is not. They have a service to sell called XBOX live. If I wanted to buy bandwidth on this service and call it "Lunatic Live" I could if I had something to offer microsoft in the form of real dollars or trade goods.
Sony on the other hand is a creation of an organization founded in post WW2 Japan known as MITI "Ministry of Internationational Trade and Industry". This governing body guarentees that Japanese industry competes on a global level but does not compete directly with other japanese industrys. All Japanese automakers target a different demographic. Same with consumer electronics. Thats why Mitsubishi doesn't have a gaming console. This body also says "Never use none japanese parts or services". Now thats not as true as is was in the past but that spirit pervades the Japanese economy and industry.
So heres my point PSN will never be equal to Xbox Live. To much time and money has been spent on it and it has to big a head start. So if the rolls were reversed what would Microsoft do? They would BUY bandwidth on the service so they could compete. In exchange they would allow Sony to use Backwards compatability on all last generation games. They also would create a time table for current generation games. This would attract developers because it would guarentee they could hit the bulk of every market. Sony in turn could make their games backwards compatable and resell all those old titles in exchange for development of current generation titles. This would open a whole new market. In short both parties would win. It also would lay the groundwork fo cross platform gaming.
Microsoft has a service to sell in live and I guarentee you they would provide the network for Sony. Why would they do this? For the money period. Indeed I believe it has already been offered to them. (can't prove it. I just believe it)I propose to you this site is proof that i'm right. Microsoft is always searching for somewhere else to "sell" their product. Hence the Community deveopment project.
Sonys crony system is outdated and dead. In the global market the idea of exclusivness is rapidly dieing. Developers want to sell their product to the biggest market possible. Microsoft understands this. They buy the studio if they want an exclusive.
The Elitist, stand alone spirit that Sony puts forward is appealing to the Japanese mid set. Unfortunatly it doesn't foster innovation. In the end you get mediocrity. My proof is the PS 3 in my room that my 8 year old son never plays.

Just read on a Sony forum, they are calling the Xbox 360 the Xbox 3fixme. lol.
I'm not going to comment on your son not playing PS3. It may be your proof but it's of little relivence here.
As for MS, their operating systems are junk i.e. Windows 98, Windows ME and Vista is not exactly Earth shattering.
MS cares so much about the consumer in terms of the 360 that the HDD is proprietary, the network adapter is an add on, the HD-DVD is a proprietary add on. You pay for Live and microtransactions on top of that. The Elite doesn't come with HD-DVD built in, nor wireless capabilities or even the 65nm CPU.
MS lied and tried blaming disc scratching on the console being moved which is in effect blaming the consumer. All they had to do was put 4 pads on the disc tray. What do they do? Put a sticker over the disc tray warning that the console not be moved with a disc in. The sticker probably costs as much as the pads would and the pads would solve the problem. Now that MS has admitted that discs can scratch from frequent use, I guess the next sticker is "Warning: Using the Xbox 360 frequently can cause discs to scratch".
MS starting out in a garage by hackers isn't exactly the most honorable start to a company. Let's not make MS out to be a company to be exemplified. They are not. The hackers just moved from the garage to One Microsoft Way.

You make Sony out like its the only electroncis supplier in Heaven Give me a break. At least our video outputs worked when they came out. Weres the Dual Dvi's they promised and 7 player co-op? And I think my son not playing the PS 3 is the perfect analogy. I have gamefly 4 games out and get all the games. He plays the wii games to death and beats the 360 games. Put on the ps 3 and hour or 2 and done. He is also no noob he has a 15,300 gamerscore and has been featured on 10k as the youngest player in the world to break the 10,000 gamerscore.
The best security companies all have a hacker on staff. The point I was making also is that in you can't run todays companies with yesterdays mindset. If you don't accept this as fact prepare to become obsolete.
And the disc tray and elite issues are valid issues. I however have 3 360's 1 launch day unit and have never had an issue with any of them. The failure rate is 2.5% the normal rate for anything made on an assembley line.
All the experts agree that all 3 next gen machines will have a viable customer base and healthy profit margin. They also agree that it will be at the expense of Sonys market share. If they are the picture of gaming exemplified then they gave up 20%-30% of their customer base why? They didn't want to hurt Bill Gates Feelings? Their launch sucked the programing wasn't even done. I have studied the technical specs for the PS 3 and agree its potential is exemplury. However the only games that are worth a darn on the PS 3 are the launch games for Xbox 360. Don't tell me that RFOM is the technical equal to Gears cause its crap and you know it.
Now I understand that the PS 2 went thru much the same . Ahead of its time and still a vialble system. I know I know but the business end of this shows a company convinced of its own infalablilty getting its clock cleaned by the new kid in the block. The system should have waited until they had at least 1 real game to sell with it. Why? Their system is really hard to program for. The 360 is easy. Does the PS 3 have more potential? I don't know maybe. We will have to see. It would't hurt my feelings if it did. I just think from a purely business standpoint Sony has done and continues to do everything the way all monopolies do business. They offer you what they want to don't care what you think. Hell Windows and PSN prove this statement.

OK where to begin...
You say that Sony should have waited until they had one good game to launch the PS3. Well I counter that by saying MS should have tested 360's before launching them so that there weren't as many defective units that overheat\freeze and scratch games. If MS tested them they sure didn't do a good job of it.
I would rather have a solid reliable system than a system with a larger gaming library (it's been out longer) that overheats and freezes. I'm glad that your son enjoys gaming. I grew up on gaming. I loved the 360 a lot more than he seems to be enjoying his PS3. The problem was I had 4 defective 360 units. Gaming isn't about placing a towel on your console and waiting 15 minutes for a temporary fix or mailing your console in a cardboard box to a repair center. MS has let the gaming community down by releasing such a shoddy product.
Back on topic, because the best defense is an offence...MGS4 is not confirmed for the 3fixme.

http://www.firingsquad.com/news/newsarticle.asp?searchid=13217» Problems With PS3 Resolutions On Older HDTVs
IGN is reporting that people who have gotten early retail units of Sony's Playstation 3 console are finding out that older HDTVs may have problems with video resolutions in games. Here is a snip:
As it turns out, gamers who own older HD sets that feature only 480i, 480p, and 1080i resolution input capabilities will have to settle for the display quality being downsized as the game boots in its 480p mode rather than upscaling the image from its more desirable 720p mode to the TV's 1080i. We tested this development on older HDTV sets with games designed for 720p but not 1080i -- Resistance: Fall of Man, NHL 2K7, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, and Need for Speed Carbon. Sure enough, the system downshifted all four titles to 480p rather than moving up to 1080i.
This just came out today. Your blessed Sony is telling all the people that bought a launch day unit to piss off. Or they can buy a new TV. At least Microsoft fix's the units. Again my launch day unit has never given me a problem.
To Stay on topic it is nice to note that Konami is NOT catagoricaly denying the allegations the MGS 4 is a multiplatform game.

My PS3 was purchased in January. My TV gets 1080i max (not a brand new TV) and my games play in 720p. Ridge Racer played in 1080i.
Back on topic because the best defense is deflection, MGS4 is NOT confirmed for the 3fixme.

Isn't that a bit old.
At first attack the other console to deflect the topic. Then traingulate, my brother cousin, etc. hates the PS3, then bring up any old news you can find to supprt your position. ;)
...in the end MGS4 is not confirmed for the 360.

Is see no point in even keeping it open past the point where the only confirmation is that the original article was a hoax. The game is not confirmed for the 360 so that doesn't leave much to discuss.

Actually the Ducks are scaring me right now. The are so outplaying the Sens.
The only thing about MS that scares me as a PS3 owner is recalling the hideous looking lady at the Walmart return counter. If my dog was that ugly I would shave it's *** and teach him to walk backwards. :p

hahahaa
it sux though that that game isnt coming over. that was one of 3 game franchises that'd possibly convince me to break down and buy a ps3. the others are final fantasy(??), and grand theft auto (which is hitting 360 consoles oct 17th i think)

Honestly Multiplatform games are good for the industry i.e. all the consoles. Someday probably very soon the only truly exclusive games will be from developers that MS, Sony and Nintendo own.

Its going to happen. Konami is a company after all, and what do companies like the most? Money.
And after seeing how much epic made with Gears of War in the first few weeks of release, they must of turned their heads. And once halo 3 does it again (as much as I hate halo, I know it will sell well) Konami will probably be making their announcement.

I'd like to believe it, but most of the time these things are started bby employees of the rival compay just to swing people over. I wouldn't be supprised if this wasn't a MS ploy or a Sony false debunking.
