I need help. Not the kind most of you mutter under your breath about me needing. I need help with identifying a good projector to play games with. I am a big fan of sofa play, where I share my gaming with someone in the same room. Though I can live with a small sofa, I am starting to push the limits of my 32 inch TV. For a good laugh, try playing vertical split screen Rainbow Six Vegas 2 on that thing.
Sadly, I am alone in a wilderness when i try to get my team's help in identifying new gear. One of them has a TV the size of an El Dorado hanging on the wall of his palatial estate. Another has 6 and a half TVs spread across his living room, just in case he wants to play Halo 3, Gears of War and watch American Idol at the same time. A rough trans-state move taught me I have no will for either option.
I want a cute little device no bigger than 10 pounds that will display a solid 80-inches of Call of Duty 4 on my wall. Here's the catch: I will not use blackout curtains. The sun in Washington state is to be savored at all costs. Here's the uncatch: I don't need perfection in my image, just halfway decent (like my haircut).
Recently Evil Avatar wrote about the Panasonic AX200U (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1158467) as a solid gaming projector, which set me off on this journey in the first place.
To make a long story 3 lines longer, I need suggestions for a good gaming projector that costs less than $2000. HDMI or component connections preferred. I know a projector screen will add to the bulk, but screens are easier to pack and at $300, easier to donate than an LCD. Show me what you got!
