Old xbox 360 controllers and new ones

I don't know if anybody else has noticed this or even cares. But on the older Xbox 360 controllers the silver plastic on the bottom of the controller is shinier than the new Xbox 360 controllers. I noticed this when my one friend brought ove ris 360 controllers. His are older than mine.
I think these two pictures should help you understand what I'm talking about.

Actually, I bought mine soon after launch and the one that came with the Premium was like the top, and the extra one I purchased was like the bottom picture. They have both been around. As far as I know
