I think that would be a great thing to add, cause I sometime feel I have a thread I opened that I should close and I'm not able to. It would be a good thing, a lot easier than asking a mod to close it for you, what if a mod isn't availible.

I was also thinking what if we had a voting system to close a thread, like once one person clicks a certain button in the thread and once it hits a certain amount of clicks the thread closes, this could help prevent threads from getting out of control that need to be closed, it could help keep peace in the community, or once it hits the certain amount of clicks a mod is alerted and the that person closes the thread.

I agree it would be a nice feature, the voting system thing could get to be a bit ridiculous if people start nixing threads and users based solely on personal opinions though...

that's why i also said we could have it alert a mod and if they think it needs to be closed, it gets closed.

There is a mod alert button though isnt there :P
Im not too sure on this one...I mean if this was to happen i know someone would accidentally hit by mistake..plus if we get some unwanted members and they made enemy's they could close a thread because they just done like a certain person,in all i think it might make more work for the mods in the end.....but that a suggestion, its really up to stony

I'm not too sure about this one either.
Even if you can trust 99% of the people.
There are 2 options I can activate: closing of own threads and closing of other threads.
The last one is certainly only for moderators. The first one might be an option.
But why not use the thread rating option. We can do an automated search on that and close it automatically if it meets certain criteria.
The thread rating can be found on the top right of a thread.

Ability to lock the thread should be limited to the thread starter.
I think this would make sense to allow. We have power to end a flamewar before it even starts.
Still having moderators are always doing their jobs as always.

I agree this is a good idea.

Like this one? LoL
The problem is, if you don't like the way the thead is going, like, if people don't agree with you, you'll lock it.
Sounds good to some point, but also sounds like more self censorship.
Best leave it to the Moderators.
