I doubt there will be any kind of a price drop since the division did lose 2 billion dollars this year. They can't afford to do it!!

A Price Cut is like saying its going to rain this year...
Of course there will be one, but the matter is what kind of price cut. To them taking the PS2 from 150 to 130 was a HUGE price cut. To me... its only 20 bucks... and is it even going to be a price cut? It could be a bundle as well. The Blue Ray Drive thats in the PS3, if I remember right, is not the same in the stand alones. They do a lot of software things in order to make it run. If I remember right, because thats what Sony said when asked how can the PS3 be cheaper than a standalone. Because in a sence its not the full thing... the hardware might, but I think its being manipulated or something... dont know... dont feel like looking for it right now... LOL

Console Price Cuts: The Evidence
>> From next-gen.biz (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5883&Itemid=2):
Next-Gen burrows through the archives of history to figure out how and when hardware manufacturers drop their prices. Click through for graphs, stats and facts galore. Conclusion - we're due a price cut...
For all the talk of Sony dropping its price, it is Microsoft that appears to have the impending date with destiny. In fact, if Microsoft doesn't drop its price by the end of July 2007, it will have held the line on its pricing longer than the PlayStation 2 did last generation.
How did price drops happen last generation? Both the GameCube and the Xbox had quick price drops after six months (from $200 to $150 and $300 to $200 respectively) and the PlayStation 2 lasted 19 months before it dropped from $300 to $200. You might recall that all three of those price drops came in the same month: May 2002. It is also worth noting that by the end of 3.5 years on the market all three consoles had settled in at 50% of their launch prices.

Console 'sweet spot' is 199usd, says Microsoft
>> From gamesindustry.biz:
As Microsoft reveals intentions to target families with new titles and a renewed marketing push, group product manager David Hufford has said he's well aware that USD 199 is the ideal price for the family audience.
Although the company has avoided a significant price reduction of the Xbox 360 since release in late 2005, analysts and industry watchers expect a cut in time for the Christmas period.
It's not only price where Microsoft intends to follow its rival's lead. Targeting the family group with new titles and a renewed marketing push is another priority, as it hopes to shake off the 'hardcore' tag that held back sales of the original Xbox.
"If we don't make that move, make it early and expand our demographic, we will wind up in the same place as with Xbox 1, a solid business with 25 million people," commented Xbox boss Peter Moore.
"What I need is a solid business with 90 million people."
