While his origins are shrouded in mystery and confusion (much like the villain himself), The Joker is considered one of the most dangerous and destructive 'rogue' in the history of the DC Universe. Continued...
For nearly Six Decades, Comic book readers, The Batman, the citizens of Gotham and even Superman have attempted to discover the roots of The Joker. While 1987's The Killing Joke featured what was assumed to be the true origins of "Jack Napier" (aka. the Red Hood—a small time criminal who accidentally fell into industrial acid that bleached his skin, twisted his face into the appearance of a clown and drove him mad). Although closer examination of The Joker's past is confusing. While the Killing Joke was one of the clearest definitions, many other stories (in comic, film, animation, etc.) contradict this story. The world may never know who this maniac really is.
The Joker is not only notorious for his ever-expanding list of crimes, but his ability to escape authorities. His rap-sheet includes: paralyzing Barbara Gordon, attempting to drive Commissioner Gordon insane with nude/tortured photographs of Barbara, the Murder of Jason Todd (Robin II), the murder of Commissioner Gordon's second wife, tricking Mr. Mxyzptlk OUT of his powers and reshaping the universe where upon he would torture Batman every night (Emperor Joker), killing Mr. Freeze with a water pistol (who later returned from hell), rereleasing Doomsday upon Washington, releasing the denizens of Arkham Asylum more than once, driving his beautiful female therapist mad (who then fell in love with the Joker, and began a life of crime under the guise of Harley Quinn)... and that's just the tip of the iceberg within comic book continuity. While in the last 15 years other super-villains have challenged Batman to the edge (Bane, Hush, and even The Riddler), The Joker defines the dark reflection of an already twisted hero. While Batman stands for justice and vengeance carried under a specific code of ethics above the law, The Joker represents chaos, violence, destruction, insanity. Sometimes The Joker won't even finish a plan because he has lost interest, or the finality is not as entertaining as he hoped. He has even admitted to his inability to kill Batman because without The Dark Knight, The Joker would lose his purpose and meaning. This creates a vicious cycle since The Batman will not kill The Joker either—both men are stuck. One, with the sole intention of constantly testing the limits of his Detective skills and sheer sanity, while the other hellbent on protecting the innocent.
The Joker has absolutely no super-human powers or abilities. While agile, and able to handle himself in a physical altercation, Joker depends on hidden weapons, tricks, poison, good old fashioned guns, knives, electric buzzers, razor-sharp playing cards, laughing gas, sharks, rubber chickens, and more importantly FEAR of his seemingly random/ingeniously designed traps and plans for destruction. The Joker can be defined as a criminal mastermind thanks to his ability to be unpredictable. Batman, Gotham, Metropolis... even the universe have teetered on the edge of destruction thanks to the Clown Prince of Crime. While there are much more powerful characters in Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, The Joker is probably the most complicated. Not to mention, fans of the upcoming game seem to be most excited to play because he is unlike any character in a Mortal Kombat game ever. Many of his Kombat moves will be secretive because he will create a green mist on-screen before performing certain attacks. One of his Fatalities has been revealed: he simply pulls out a revolver and blows out the brains of his adversary. Laughing madly, all the while.
